1. General Requirements

Manuscripts submitted to the World Nutrition Journal must be original works that have not been previously published and are not currently under consideration by another journal.

The final manuscript must be approved by all authors before submission.

All manuscripts must be written in English and prepared using Microsoft Word (.doc or .docx).

2. Publication Ethics and Legal Requirement

2.1 Copyright and Licensing

Authors retain the copyright of their work and grant the World Nutrition Journal the right of first publication.

All published articles are licensed under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International License (CC BY 4.0), which permits use, sharing, adaptation, distribution, and reproduction in any medium or format, provided that the original author(s) and source are properly cited.

Authors grant the journal:

1. The right of first publication and distribution of the article in electronic and print editions.
2. The right to create, store, and preserve electronic archival copies of the article.
3. The rights granted under the Creative Commons Attribution License (CC BY 4.0).

2.2 Research Involving Human Participants

Manuscripts reporting studies involving human participants must state that the study has received approval from the appropriate ethics committee and was conducted in accordance with the ethical principles of the Declaration of Helsinki.

The manuscript must also clearly state that informed consent was obtained from participants before their inclusion in the study.

Information that may reveal the identity of study participants must be omitted.

2.3 Animal Studies

Reports of animal experiments must state that the Principles of Laboratory Animal Care were followed, together with applicable national regulations.

2.4 Editorial Responsibility

The Editor-in-Chief reserves the right to reject manuscripts that do not comply with the journal's ethical and publication requirements.

Authors are responsible for the accuracy of all statements and documentation submitted to the journal.

3. Manuscript Submission

Manuscripts should be submitted through the World Nutrition Journal online submission system at:

www.worldnutrijournal.org

Authors should submit:

• Main manuscript in Microsoft Word format (.doc or .docx)
• Separate author information/title page
• Cover letter
• Declaration of Ethical Approval and Informed Consent form, where applicable

  The submission must also be accompanied by a signed Declaration of Ethical Approval and Informed Consent form (download the form here), confirming compliance with applicable ethical standards and regulations. (read more on Publication Ethics)

• Figures as separate .jpg files with a minimum resolution of 600 DPI

Cover Letter

The cover letter should identify the corresponding author and include:

• Full mailing address
• Telephone number
• Email address
• Country and city codes for international authors, when applicable

Authorship

Authorship should be limited to individuals who have made meaningful contributions to the conception, design, execution, analysis, and/or writing of the manuscript.

4. Manuscript Preparation

4.1 General Formatting

Manuscripts should follow the following format:

• Language: English
• File format: Microsoft Word (.doc or .docx)
• Font: Times New Roman
• Font size: 12 pt
• Line spacing: Double
• Layout: Single column
• Pages: Continuously numbered

These requirements apply to the main text, tables, references, legends, and other manuscript components.

Abbreviations should be kept to a minimum and defined when first mentioned.

5. Title Page and Blind Review

5.1 Title Page

The title page should include:

1. Article title
2. Full names of all authors, including first and middle names and academic degrees
3. Institutional affiliations, including city and country
4. Name and contact information of the corresponding author
5. Running title of no more than 45 characters, including spaces

5.2 Blind Review

To ensure a blind-review process, authors must submit:

File 1 – Title Page

• Article title
• Authors
• Affiliations
• Corresponding author information

File 2 – Main Manuscript

• Article title
• Abstract
• Keywords
• Main text
• References
• Tables/Figures as applicable

The main manuscript must not contain information that identifies the authors.

6. Abstract and Keywords

The abstract should not exceed 250 words.

For Original Articles and Review Articles, the abstract should include:

Introduction

State the main question or objective addressed by the study.

Methods

Describe the study design, including:

• Setting
• Participants/subjects
• Selection methods
• Number of participants enrolled and completing the study
• Measurements or assessment methods

Results

Present the key findings of the study.

Conclusions

Present the main conclusions and, where relevant, their clinical or practical implications.

Keywords should be provided immediately after the abstract.

7. Main Text

The manuscript should generally follow the following structure:

7.1 Introduction

Explain the rationale and background of the study through a concise review of relevant literature and clearly state the research objective.

7.2 Methods

Provide sufficient information regarding:

• Study design
• Study setting
• Participants or subjects
• Sampling or recruitment
• Measurements
• Intervention, where applicable
• Data collection
• Statistical analysis
• Ethical approval

7.3 Results

Present the study findings clearly and concisely.

Results may be presented using tables and/or figures when appropriate. Excessively large tables should be avoided.

7.4 Discussion

Interpret the findings in relation to:

• Study objectives
• Previous research
• Clinical or scientific significance
• Strengths and limitations of the study

The Discussion should conclude with the main conclusions of the study.

8. Manuscript Length and References

Manuscript length should be adjusted according to the article type.

Original Research Article

• Main text: 2,000–5,000 words
• References: 25–40

Review Article

• Main text: 3,000–10,000 words
• References: 30–75

Case Report

• Main text: 1,000–3,000 words
• References: 10–25

EBCR

• Main text: 1,500–4,000 words
• References: 10–25

The word count refers to the main body of the manuscript and excludes the abstract, tables, and figures.

Authors are encouraged to prioritize recent and relevant literature.

Reference Requirements

Authors should ensure that references are relevant, current, and scientifically appropriate to the subject of the manuscript.

• At least 80% of references should preferably be primary sources, such as original research articles.
• At least 80% of references should have been published within the last 10 years.
• Older references may be used when they represent seminal, foundational, or historically important work that remains relevant to the manuscript.
• Authors are encouraged to cite original sources rather than secondary citations whenever possible.
• References should be selected based on their scientific relevance and quality, rather than solely to meet a numerical requirement.

9. References and Citation Style

World Nutrition Journal uses the Vancouver referencing style.

References must:

• Be numbered according to their first appearance in the manuscript
• Use superscript numbers for in-text citations
• Follow the journal's reference format consistently
• Use journal abbreviations according to Index Medicus

Personal communications and unpublished data should generally be avoided as references. When essential, they should be cited only within the text and should not appear in the reference list.

10. Tables and Figures

Figures

• Maximum resolution requirement: minimum 600 DPI
• File format: .jpg
• Each figure must be numbered according to its order of appearance in the manuscript.
• Each figure must have a clear legend.
• All abbreviations used in figures must be explained in the legend.

Tables

• Tables must be numbered according to their order of appearance.
• Each table must have a descriptive title.
• Footnotes and additional explanations should appear below the table.
• All abbreviations must be defined.
• The same data should not be duplicated in both tables and figures.

Authors are responsible for obtaining permission to reproduce previously published figures or tables.

Maximum Number

11. Evidence-Based Case Report (EBCR)

An Evidence-Based Case Report (EBCR) combines a real clinical case with an evidence-based approach to answering a clinical question.

EBCR manuscripts must be based on real patients from clinical settings, including private practices, clinics, or hospitals.

The manuscript should contain:

Abstract

Maximum 250 words.

Introduction

Explain the importance of the clinical case using the SPQR framework:

• Situation
• Problem
• Question
• Response

Case Report

Describe the patient's clinical information anonymously, including:

• Anamnesis
• Symptoms
• Clinical signs and findings
• Laboratory and/or radiological findings
• Treatment or therapy provided

Patient confidentiality must be maintained.

Discussion

Discuss the evidence supporting the clinical management of the patient using relevant and up-to-date literature.

The Discussion should end with:

• Conclusion
• Suggestion/Recommendation

References

References must follow the Vancouver superscript style.

Relevant clinical images, tables, and/or graphics may be included where appropriate.

12. Final Manuscript and Proofreading

Before final publication, authors must carefully review the final manuscript and ensure that:

• The text is complete
• Author names and affiliations are correct
• Tables and figures are complete and correctly numbered
• Citations and references are accurate
• Typographical and formatting errors have been corrected

At the proofreading stage, only minor editorial and technical corrections should normally be made.

Substantial changes to the scientific content, data, results, or interpretation require approval from the responsible editor.

After publication, further corrections may only be made through an Erratum, where appropriate.
